Thika Institute of Business Studies acknowledges the bright future of its students and the talents they harbour. In recognition to talent naturing, the institute has held a music extravaganza to strike a balance between academics and talents. The students showcased several artistic talents with ecstasy and vibration in the termly comrades’ event.

The college principal, Charles Omolo has said that the music extravaganza is meant to strike a balance between learning and social life where co-curriculum activities could not due to its limitation to specific areas thus closing out a range of talents that the students inhibit.

“In the earlier days co-curricular activities were used as a form of education where most talents could not be identified and natured for a better tomorrow”, Omollo said during the opening of the remarkable event.

The stage filled with sparkling and enticing students full of energy showcasing different talents possessed trembled complement the moves. Among the talents, were the unique dance moves by the TIBS dance crew who occasionally break-danced without sweating. Their unique moves attracted head on competitions from other dance crews, each trying to show their prowess on the dancehall. The Red Scarlet, The Warriors and the Inspired dance crews danced their way out to outshine each other and carry the days title.

The involved audience who danced along the moves echoed and celebrated the unique moves showcased on the dance hall. The climax of the dances was marked by the renown Mbuzi gang performing and allowing comrades to dance freely to their live performance. The gang’s hit song “Kaskie Vibaya” saw all comrades get out of their comfort zones and dance to the magical tunes freely. The stage came to live with both students and staff of TIBS college showing what they can do best when breaking loose.

Traditional, urban and gengetones tunes composed by the TIBS artists are among the songs that filled the air deliriously. Rhapsodic and euphoric spoken word by Joshua Okuta commonly known as MC Poyoyo lingered in the air carrying the audience with affection and drowning them in the rhythmic words and singing along the edges of the presentation with the “oringo mbaya yaya” nostaligic rhymes. His unique voice got all the sleeping giants wake up and ask of its origin.

“It’s God’s work”, Okuta said as the crowd imitated his deep coarse and reverberating voicing.

The talents were wrapped up by the college models walking down the podium in calculated moves and in decent artistic attires. Mr. and Miss TIBS left the audience’s mouths agape with as they waved and send signals of affection to them.

Talents are inhibited and if provoked or given an opportunity one can really showcase it at its best and thus leading to the nurturing of it. TIBS college appreciates all the talents and a token has been given to each member who brought his or her talent to the world. In bid to motivate and identify more talents refreshments were served and indeed the talents kept streaming out by one comrade eating six pieces of scones and a soda within two minutes.

“I would have taken one minute if only had I not eaten earlier”, Wanjala left the comrades laughing as the wrapped up the day.
